Introduction
This leaflet has been written just for you. It tells you about different things that you will find when you are on holiday.
There are lots of exciting and different things to see and do when you are on holiday, but just like at home you will need to take care. At your hotel, on the beach and around the resort where you are staying are all places where you will always need to stay with the adult that you came with.
Please read this leaflet and ask an adult or your Kidzone rep, any questions that you have about the things that you have read.
Road Safety
People drive differently overseas than they do in the UK, and in some places, they may even drive on the other side of the road. You must therefore be very careful of the roads and do not try to cross the road unless you are with an adult.
Balcony Safety
Do not go out onto the balcony of your hotel or apartment room on your own.
Lifts
Never get into a lift unless you have a parent or adult with you.
Playgrounds
Make sure you have a parent or adult with you if you are using the playground. Look out for notices, which will tell you about the playground's opening times and may give you other special advice about using the playground.
Animals
Please do not feed or try to stroke animals while you are on holiday. They may look friendly but they may scratch you. If you are scratched or bitten by an animal, please tell an adult straight away.
In the Sun
The sun can get very hot at certain times of the day and can even burn you through the clouds. Make sure when you are in the sun that you: Slip - Slap - Slop! Slip on a T-shirt! Slap on a hat! Slop on the sunscreen!
Water Safety
When you're close to the water on holiday, you need to take extra care and follow Ryan's Rules!
- Don't run around the pool!
- Check when the pool is open!
- Don't swim at night time!
- Don't go in the water alone - always make sure you have an adult with you
- Always check which is the shallow end!
- Always wear your arm-bands if you need them!
- Never try to push anyone else in the pool!
- Know how to get help!
- The beach might have flags to show you when it's safe to swim in the sea. Ask someone to tell you what they mean!
